October 10, 2011Writing New Testament Still. Many times while sharing in conversations regarding bible history and truths, we’ll hear people make statements such as; “In the bible days and “The New Testament Church and “The New Testament believers” In my place of meditation recently the Lord spoke to me something that He has spoken to me before; “Joyce you all are still New Testament believers, still The New Testament Church and these are still bible days. |
The spoken word of the Lord brings us to the thought we’d love to share today. The saints of the Most High God are still New Testament Saints and we are still writing with our lives the New Testament. Some of the passages written by us are being read by others through mere observation of our lives. Many to most of the passages that we’re writing will be read by our Great King, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, from the pages of the books recording angels—scribes of God—are penning daily. As we can thoroughly see, record keeping is a ministry that has been passed down from heaven to earth and this ministry is imperative.
Throughout the reading of the earlier bible days—the Old Testament—we read the history of the early patriarchs and we see within the writings the victories of some and the failures of others. Always in these recordings we see the awesomeness of God and we have an open view of his many facets and attributes. Most of the times when people know that they are on display they’ll put their best foot forward. They’ll take extra precautions to watch both their words and their actions. They will take great care in adorning themselves with the right outward garments. Had many of the patriarchs of old known their lives were to be an open display for all to see, I wonder if many of them would have done things differently. I wonder if perhaps they would have given more thought to their words and actions.
God placed himself on display. He intentionally drew back the curtains for all to get an opened view of Him—to see Him as He is. He hasn’t dressed up or dressed down nor has He needed to take precautions for words and actions. From earlier bible days to now present bible days we find that God is even as He spoke eons ago; “I AM THAT I AM!” He changes not and there is no shadow of turning with Him. Every recording of truth allowed by God to be written of Him shows the facets and attributes of God to be always—the same.
Because we are still writing New Testament and our lives are an open display before the God-head bodily, the angels—both standing and fallen—and man, I have to ask; what things are written within the chapters? Does a majority of the chapters contain verse by verse discourses of our failures, and fleshly pursuits? Does chapter after chapter began with, “And Joyce would not pray, nor seek the guidance of God.” Or “And Joyce ignored God’s call for communion and resisted the Spirit of God to go her own way.” Is there a chapter that reads: “And Joyce would not proclaim the goodness of God and share the good news of his kingdom with man-kind.” Are there any chapters written that read as thus: “And the Spirit of the Lord moved upon the children of men and used them mightily to work many great and terrible things in the land so much so that men of every nation sought them out—asking; what must I do to be saved?”
How does the chapters of your life, believer read? What passages of scripture have you written that will draw men, and ignite a hunger and thirst for the God you serve? Better still; is your life fashioned where others can read what the bible already contains without opening the book? Does your life read; And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, thy mind and thy body. Thou shalt have no other gods before me. Love your neighbor as yourself. Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor. Thou shalt not commit adultery. Abstain from fornication and youthful lust. Speak the truth to every man and lie not. Let not evil communications proceed from your mouth. Thou shalt not steal. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and temperance. Hmm…
