She is the third oldest of seven siblings. Primary schooling was attended at Robert L Vann School in Ahoskie, North Carolina, C. G. White School in Powellsville, North Carolina and Askewville Elementary in Askewville, North Carolina. Middle school was attended at Bertie Junior High in Windsor, North Carolina and High School was attended at Bertie Senior High in the same city; Windsor. Joyce dropped out of high school after the completion of grade ten and many years later furthered her education where she obtained her G.E.D. |
Stepping into the arena of adulthood at the age of fifteen, life held many experiences for her that escorted her to the position in life that she holds today: Pastor and CEO of A Desire so Strong Ministries and published author of the awe inspiring novel: A Desire so Strong.
The hand of God was upon Joyce’s life before the very foundations of the world. Having recognized the call of God on her life at a young age—an age of immaturity—she didn’t know what to do with and about the call but to seal the call and experiences with God within the security of her heart. Many of her life’s experiences revealed the hand of God upon her and a very deep desire to know God burned within her despite what her actions in life spoke.
As she matured God began to give Joyce dreams and visions. These dreams and visions held messages and revelations of future events in her personal life as well as in the lives of others. Some dreams and visions held revelations of world events and economical changes for certain businesses and families. Often God would give her dreams of peoples’ heart and mind struggles which she’d share with such said individuals who’d confirm the accuracy of the dreams given.
Joyce’s hunger and thirst for the knowledge of God and the knowing of God led God to draw her to Him in a more personal way than just Word reading, Church attendance and prayer. He drew her to Himself through sanctioned quiet time where she’d sit hours in his presence to commune with Him. God taught her to journal and through her journaling she found herself becoming a personal scribe to the Almighty God—the creator of both heaven and earth. Finding such times insightful, fulfilling and very joyous, her love for God continued to grow as well as her love for journaling in His presence. Finding as much pleasure and more in their times together, God increased His desires ‑ placed within Joyce‑‑ to passionately share His love and desires for mankind with the many people He’d predestined her to meet.
The ministry entrusted Joyce by God is a ministry that isn’t limited to the four walled building called Church. Daily she can be heard and seen sharing the good news of the Love and the Kingdom of God to individuals where ever she encounters them. She thoroughly believes: “if you can’t get the people to come to the gospel, you take the gospel to the people where ever they are.” Knowing beyond all doubt the true existence of Yahweh—the true and living God—and the authenticity of every spoken word of God, Joyce knows with surety that a day will come when all visible things will be done away with and every man will find himself standing before God to give an account for the life granted them. Desiring every man to stand before the Lord in peace, she passionately shares the love of God and the message that urges man to make peace with His creator—a peace that uproots and transitions one into a new position with God.
A Desire so Strong Ministries‑ of which she is secondary shepherd under Christ Jesus who is Primary Shepherd‑‑ is a ministry that is governed and ruled by the Spirit of Christ: the Holy Ghost/ Holy Spirit. This ministry embraces and acts upon the great desire of God that is found in II Peter 3:9.
“The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness: but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that (all) should come to repentance.”
